Fun Time

  03/04/08 11:13, by , Categories: Family
Yesterday we took the kids over to our neighbors who live beside the church. They have made a sledding run from the top of one of the big banks beside their house and down the hill in front of the church. It was a great time and the kids really loved it. (so did us big people). Nathan especially likes to go down either alone, or with one of the girls who he likes. ;) It was good to spend time with our neighbors and strengthen the relationship with them. Holly LaPoint even dropped by for a quick run down the hill. An awesome day.

Collecting Random Musings

Well, another snow storm. Glad I got the new snowblower. It really makes things easier. The headlight was handy tonight since I wanted to get the blowing done before church tomorrow. Church should be good. Hopefully we'll have a good turnout after the storm today. Tomorrow morning we finish the Great Commission series we started in January. I can't believe it is over already. I hope that it makes a difference as we move forward. I have heard so much about the Great Commission over the years, but this series, and related focuses, is supposed to be a practical movement to real implementation and adoption, not just talk. Although it meant working in the office today, I was really happy to get some visitation in this week. I had a couple of great visits with people. So many more contacts to make, but it is so great to have so many wonderful individuals in the church family. Micah has stared pulling himself up and sometimes standing (holding on of course). That boy is moving ahead way too fast. :) I am glad that Nathan likes to sing. Most nights, when I tuck him in, we sing together for a few minutes. I am teaching him the songs my mom taught me when I was little. His current favorite is "For God So Loved the World." Of course, he calls it "Only Son". Esther's latest thing is to wrap things up as presents for the rest of us.

Winter Weekend

02/26/08 13:59, by , Categories: Church Life, Stray Thoughts, Living Life
I had a great time at winter weekend. The trip down, even though the traveling was terrible, was fun because of the great time I had talking to the two guys who went with me. Then to see all the teens down there that I already know and have relationships with. There were some great talks! One of the best elements of the weekend for me was the teaching that we sat under. Jonathan Twitchell was our speaker and he did a great job challenging us from the Word of God. As a pastor, I don't always get fed by others very often, and I found that sitting under Jonathan's teaching this weekend gave me a real shot in the arm. It was refreshing and invigorating. I was sorry to have to leave early to come home, but I got what I needed. Praise God for his goodness in supplying our needs!

No Posts Last Week

I didn't do any posting last week. Vacation week is always busy. Everyone is out of school so you try to get together with as many people as possible. I didn't spend much time in the office last week and when I was in here, I was running against the clock. Oh well, it was a good week and it was good to get together with the people I could. I just wish I could have met with more.

Snowing Again

02/26/08 13:51, by , Categories: Stray Thoughts, Living Life
Well it's snowing again. I guess a lot of people are sick of it, but I am not. I like the snow. Now I don't like the ice and when it does that mix thing, no thank you. But I remember all the snow we used to get as a kid and it is fun to see it pile up this year. The new snowblower is working and the house is warm. No reason not to enjoy the snow while we have it. I was at a store today and mentioned the snow to the cashier. She talked about being sick of the snow and then said, "before you know it, we'll be complaining that it is too hot." I guess she is right. We do like to complain. Too cold, too hot, too much snow. Whatever happened to the contentment that Paul talks about. He said that he had learned to be content in whatever circumstances he found himself. And the circumstances that he lists are not trivial things like bad weather. He talks about hunger, beatings, imprisonment. We complain about such small things. So if you're reading this, don't get sick of the snow. Be thankful for the beauty that God has sent our way today.
