Great article this morning from CNN that discusses what researchers and medical practitioners are learning about the effect of music. Listening and performing it actually help create more and complex brain pathways.
No wonder God is always urging us to sing and make music to Him. He created us for music and made music good for us.
Now while I don't think this endorses any particular cultural style of music ("traditional" vs. "contemporary"), I do think that music needs to have an order to it in terms of meter, beat, and melody. The style can be fast or slow, but I imagine that chaotic and cacophonous music might not be what the brain ordered. Just my opinion. Sing to the Lord today, with gladness! :)
