Quitting Sports
I don't think I want to have anything more to do with sports, especially going to sporting events. Here are my reasons.
- Every time I went, they asked me for money.
- The people with whom I had to sit didn't seem very friendly.
- The seats were too hard and not at all comfortable.
- I went to many games, but the coach never came to visit me.
- The referee made a decision I couldn't agree with.
- Some of the people there were hypocrites: they came to see their friends and see what others were doing instead of to see the game.
- Some games went into overtime, and I was late getting home.
- The band played some numbers that I didn't know or didn't like.
- It seems the games are often scheduled when I wanted to do other things.
- I was made to go to games by my parents when I was growing up.
- I recently read a book on sports and I think I know more than the coaches do anyway.
- I don't want to take my kids to any games because I want them to chose for themselves what sport they like best.
With apologies to those who use these same rationalizations to avoid attending Church.
